LED-FLEX(tm) Wins Prestigious EC&M's 2005 Product of the Year Award for Lighting Systems -- Mule's LED alternative for neon lighting requires less energy, offers greater flexibility PROVIDENCE, RI -- Electrical Construction & Maintenance (EC&M) magazine has named LED-FLEX(tm) a winner of the EC&M 2005 Product of the Year award, in the Lighting Systems category. Introduced in 2004, the LED-FLEX LED (light emitting diode) lighting system from Mule Lighting, Inc., has the same appearance as traditional neon lighting, but requires less energy, is more flexible and durable, and can be used in many applications where neon is not appropriate. "We are thrilled that LED-FLEX has been recognized in this way," said Rob Cross, Vice President at Mule Lighting, Inc. "We are very excited to bring this new and innovative technology to the marketplace, where it is receiving an excellent response." The prestigious EC&M 2005 Product of the Year competition includes awards given in 25 categories. After receiving a record number of entries this year, a panel of eight judges selected the winners based on innovation and the ability to save a user time and enhance productivity. Mule's LED-FLEX incorporates durable UV protected tubes lined with LED lamps for illumination. This system is flexible enough to bend up to 180 degrees, offering a user-friendly alternative to delicate, glass-based neon bulbs. LED-FLEX contains no harmful gases, making it safe to handle, and can be custom cut and shaped on-site, without the need for specially trained personnel. The LED-FLEX system requires as little as 1.92 watts of energy per foot, making it 10-50% more energy efficient than traditional lighting, including neon. It is also more stable than neon, featuring a solid state design that enables the lights to withstand shock, vibration, frequent switching, and temperature and environmental extremes without compromising performance. Lasting up to 100,000 hours, the LED-FLEX lighting system drastically reduces maintenance time and cost. Appropriate for both interior and exterior applications, it is available in red, green, blue and yellow base colors.
