Ashaway Introduces Full Line of Multi-Polymer Monofilament Tennis Strings -- MonoGut(tm) strings combine gut-like playability with durable construction Ashaway, RI -- Ashaway Racket String's new line of multi-polymer monofilament tennis strings represents the first synthetic gut on the market to combine both resiliency and durability in a single string. MonoGut(tm) was designed for power players who want a string that is strong enough to stand up to their style of play, while providing good feel and control. Available in 16- and 17-gauge versions, as well as a hybrid set, the new line offers a wide variety of tennis players a string that will match their playing needs. Ashaway's 16L-gauge (1.27 mm) MonoGut string provides maximum durability with a highly playable string. It is the most popular monofilament construction for professional players, and is recommended for players at all levels who break typical synthetic gut easily. MonoGut(tm) 17 tennis string provides gut-like playability in a durable monofilament construction, with users reporting that it lasts up to 10 times longer than traditional 17-gauge synthetic guts. MonoGut 17 is recommended for hard hitters and players who find hybrids too stiff. New Crossfire(r) MonoGut tennis hybrid string sets from Ashaway combine 16L-gauge (1.27 mm) MonoGut mains and 16-gauge (1.30 mm) synthetic gut crosses for maximum durability, playability and tension holding. The sets are ideal for both hard hitters who want a softer playing string and power players who are looking for a more durable hybrid. MonoGut is manufactured from a proprietary multi-polymer blend, that is extruded with a fluorocarbon emulsion for easier stringing. This coating also provides surface friction for superior bite on the ball and less string movement when compared with traditional monofilament strings. MonoGut, which is manufactured in Germany, was designed by Ashaway and is produced to their exacting specifications. MonoGut is available in both 16L (1.27 mm) and 17 (1.22 mm) gauges, which come in 360 ft (110 M) and 660 ft (200 M) reels, as well as 40 ft (12 M) sets. Crossfire MonoGut is available in sets containing 23 ft (7 M) mains and 20 ft crosses (6 M). Because of its unique extruded design and composition, the recommended stringing tension for MonoGut is 10-15% less tension than standard. Ashaway Racket Strings are made by Ashaway Line & Twine Mfg.
